SCORE provides a wide variety of seminars and presentations on business related subjects. The following schedule is a sample of current classes that are planned. You can register by simply calling the office and then put the class on your calendar. We will have handouts at the class and additional SCORE documents for you to take. Of course if the subject interests you, we are always happy to visit with you on the Internet or at the office. Note there are two primary locations for the classes, please be sure to check the location specific to the class you are interested in attending. JAN 21 - MAKING IT TODAY TO BE HERE TOMORROW (Vickers) Take an in depth look at the current trends, challenges and opportunities facing small businesses and not-for-profits in 2010. Presented by Al Vickers, chairman of the Las Cruces SCORE chapter. Al has served as the executive director of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and of the Lions Crane Reading Foundation. Al brings over 40 years experience as a management consultant to public and not-for-profit organizations to focus on the challenges and risks facing small business and not-for-profits today. 6 – 8 pm, Community Room . FEB 18 - HOW TO START AND RUN A HOME-BASED BUSINESS (Worthington) Many experts agree that the current economic downturn is a great time to start your own business. Seminar covers: Is a home-based business for you? Do you have the discipline to do this? Is there room in your house to set up a business? Basics of starting a home based business including: Legal structure: sole proprietor, partner, or corporation? Legal aspects: certification, zoning, neighbors. Getting help from professional organizations. Tax variables. Equipment needed.
