The Critical Difference Between Fund Raising and Fund Development

This workshop examines the difference between short-term, quick fix and long- term fund development.  Certain choices your organization makes will either wear out your volunteers on people intensive activities resulting in few dollars or gradually build your resources to build endowments and survival.  Which activities raise the most income?  This interactive workshop is for staff and volunteers who are raising money.  Presenter: Kuyper

Covering Your Assets-Low-tech, No cost Ways to Protect Files

Electronic records are often an organization’s most important assets.  After assessing the vulnerability of some of your critical data, you will be taught methods for reducing risk which do not require sophisticated electronic systems or incur significant cost.  The discussion will include creating, implementing, and monitoring appropriate risk management policies and procedures.  This workshop is planned for executive directors, chief staff and those responsible for file creation and management.  Presenter: Cooke

The Not-for-Profit Board’s Role in HR

The role of the board of Directors in personnel and human resource administration is frequently a sticky issue for Not-for-Profits.  Should the board approve all salaries, or just the executive director’s?  If a staff member has a grievance, should it come to the board?  Come and learn about specific guidelines for board oversight that don’t take away from the chief executive’s authority or responsibility.  This workshop is for board members and executive directors.  Presenter: Kuyper
